Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Chairman Eslam Azzam emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with business accelerators and incubators for fostering innovation in the insurance technology space. He made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the "Insurtech Challenge 2026," organized by the AUC Venture Lab and supervised by the FRA's regulatory sandbox.
The event, which highlighted innovative solutions in the insurtech sector, included participation from sandbox Executive Director Ahmed Khalifa, AUC Venture Lab Director Ayman Ismail, and Insurance Federation of Egypt Chairman Alaa El-Zoheiry. Azzam stated that these partnerships are crucial for aligning innovation with regulatory frameworks and supporting the insurance sector's digital transformation. He also noted the FRA's commitment to empowering startups by allowing them to test solutions within a flexible regulatory environment.
Ahmed Khalifa remarked that the Insurtech Challenge acts as a platform to transform promising ideas into workable models, aiming to improve service efficiency and promote financial inclusion. Additionally, AUC Venture Lab Director Ayman Ismail highlighted the benefits of collaboration among regulators, companies, and academia in turning innovative ideas into viable projects.
The three-day event hosted multiple panel discussions and workshops, ultimately selecting three winning teams out of 17 finalists from an initial 68 applicants. These teams presented solutions focused on enhancing customer experience and increasing operational efficiency.
