After spending a week at InsureTech Connect, it’s inevitable that the debates will start.

Insurtech companies are disrupting the industry and fixing what’s broken.

Traditional insurers have won for over a century because of what they built.

Well can’t both be right?  That’s what I talk about in this episode of The Insurance Nerdery

Avoiding a Hangover

Wait a second…not that kind of hangover!

Well.  Maybe that kind of hangover too.

I’m talking about avoiding the insurance conference hangover.  I’m talking about coming back from a conference still too hyped up.  Or completely burnt out. 

Coming back not knowing where to start.  Or having too many things that you’re trying to start all at once.

I first heard it referred to as a “hangover” from my good friend Ashley Fitzsimmons.  I think this is the perfect description, as sometimes it feels like you can’t get out of your own way.

Well in this episode of The Insurance Nerdery, I give you some tips of what to do before, during and after an event to make sure we get the most out of it.

Tell us what has worked best for you, because as Amber recently told us, there are a lot of events coming up.  I want to make sure we’re all prepared to crush each and every one of them that we attend!

Claims is the Place to Be

It’s what an insurance company is selling.

So why wouldn’t it be most important component of an insurance company?

All too often we may hear that Claims is a good stepping stone.  Or a way to get your foot in the insurance door.

Well I’m here to say that Claims should be a destination career for people looking to make an impact on people’s lives.

I take you through why I think that Claims is the place to be in this episode of The Insurance Nerdery.

Dealing with Stress in Claims

I truly believe that a career in Claims is so fulfilling on so many levels.  But stress seems to be a major part of what we do.

How can it not be?

We deal with people when the worst has happened to them.  And we’re there to help them.

That’s a lot of pressure.

We need a way to deal with and relieve that stress.

So let’s talk about a couple of things we can do at the desk level to help.  But we also have to look to Claims leadership to help as well.

This is an awfully difficult topic, so I don’t want this to be about my thoughts in this week’s episode of The Insurance Nerdery.
