✅ Week 8 Action Item: Create a critical emergency action list.
👉 Do you know the steps to take in the event of an emergency?
👉 Knowing the steps when there’s an emergency will help you know what tasks need to be accomplished so that you don’t forget anything important.
👉 During an emergency, you may have limited time to gather what you need, you may lose access to the internet, or you may realize you’re lacking certain supplies.
👉 Every family is unique, so a one-size-fits-all action plan may not address all your family’s needs. It’s important to take the time to think through the steps that are essential to you and your family.
👉 Here’s what works, create and update your list, here are some things to include (Get Ready Insiders can access a Critical Emergency Action List worksheet from their dashboard):
– Family meeting locations (primary and secondary).
– Evacuation procedures
– Know how to shut off water, gas and main electrical switch
– Communication plan. Have an out-of-area contact.
– Make sure fire extinguishers are accessible and how to use them.
– Monitor your smoke, carbon, dioxide, and other alarms.
– Know what you will need to take in the event of an evacuation.
⭐️ Pro-tip:
👉 Keep a copy of your critical emergency action list in an easy-to-find location, such as on your refrigerator. Also, keep a copy in your emergency kit (if you have one). Consider giving a copy (or partial copy) to a trusted relative, friend, or neighbor.
