Attend #NAMICAnnual Virtually! Check out Connect Differently.

Tony and I have just gotten back from the CPCU Society Annual Meeting, and we will have a recap on that soon.  But you know we’re addicted to education and love any chance we can get to improve our professional skills.  One conference that we’ve heard great things about is the NAMIC Annual Convention.   This year, the convention runs September 25-28 in Vancouver.  They are also hosting a virtual event called Connect Differently. When NAMIC reached out to us and asked if we’d like to join them Virtually, we said YES, Please!

If you sign up to attend virtually, you will have access to:

  • Watch live broadcasts of several NAMIC Annual Convention sessions
  • Access presentations on-demand
  • Watch live interviews conducted one-on-one with industry experts and some of NAMIC’s Annual Convention speakers
  • Participate in Interactive Q&A with presenters through the virtual host

Many of the live events are even scheduled to run after normal business hours for those of us in the Eastern Time Zones!  Tony and I plan to attend many of these virtually and review presentations on demand in the weeks following.  We’d love to see more of our industry conventions start something like this.

The scheduled live sessions are focused on the talent gap, emerging technologies, and current trends in claims handling and other areas of insurance.  We are both excited to learn more about how industry leaders are preparing to address the talent gap and take on emerging technologies.  Every time I leave a conference, I come back more passionate about the industry and have ideas that I can apply at my desk.  Since this will be my first time attending a virtual conference, I’ll be looking to see how I can tap in to that energy without being there in person!  We hope some of our readers will join in and share their thoughts on the topics discussed and on the virtual format of this event.

If you join in, be sure to tweet using #NAMICAnnual, and look for us tweeting at @CarlyABurnham or @TonyCanas4.

All the videos are available for 90 days and you can still buy access to Connect Differently (got some training budget you need to utilize before the end of the year? *hint hint*).

Carly Burnham began her insurance career in 2004 as an office assistant at an agency in her hometown of Duluth, MN. She got licensed as a producer while working at that agency and progressed to serve as an office manager. Working in the agency is how she fell in love with the industry. She saw firsthand the good that insurance consumers experienced by having the proper protection.

When Carly moved to Des Moines in 2010, she decided to commit to the industry, and she completed her CPCU in one year finishing it in 2012 and attending commencement in New Orleans. She completed her MBA at Iowa State University in 2014. During this time, she and Tony founded a Gen Y Associate Resource Group at Nationwide in Des Moines.

After they had both left Nationwide, Tony recruited Carly to co-author and manage InsNerds.com. She has the difficult task of keeping his constant flow of crazy ideas focused and helping to flesh them out into useful articles. Carly enjoys sharing knowledge and ideas about the future of the industry and finds the website a good outlet for this passion.

Carly is involved in the the CPCU Society Underwriting Interest Group. She also writes "Next Wave" a monthly column in the "Perspectives" section of Best's Review.
