This morning, our good friend, Amy Waninger of Lead at Any Level called out Tony and I on Twitter. She knows we’re both politically active, and she challenged us to “get young people to the polls.” Here at Insurance Nerds, we don’t believe the negative stereotypes about Millennials. And we work tirelessly every day to prove to employers in our ecosystem that they’re untrue.
One place where they are true is in voting numbers. In June, a poll conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute and The Atlantic indicated that only 28% of people aged 18-29 said they were “absolutely certain” they will vote in November, while 74% of seniors answered this way. We want to do our little part to change that truth. Voting is our civic duty, and working in a highly regulated industry, we must show up at the polls. Those we elect can affect every aspect of our industry’s future.
So, let’s meet Amy’s challenge and show her that Insurance Nerds (of all ages!) vote! We’re going to run a little contest to make this even more fun. You’ll have 3 ways to participate:
1. Now through 11/5, send us a screenshot showing that you’re registered to vote. You can go to vote.org to check your status. I did it, and it took about 10 seconds; if you’re not, they have resources to help you get that solved.
Use this form and send us a screenshot like the one above and that gets you 1 entry!
2. On 11/6, send us a selfie using this form wearing your “I voted” sticker and that’s your second entry!
3. Tweet @InsNerds with your selfie and the hashtag #InsNerdsVote and that’s your third entry.
We’ll draw a winner from each category, and you’ll receive a credit good for 1 book in our catalog and a free copy of Network Beyond Bias by Amy Waninger! If you participate in all 3 categories, you’ll be entered in a drawing for 1 pass to next year’s 2nd Annual Insurance Nerds Day!
