Here are some of the more interesting answers we’ve gotten lately:   ## What’s your favorite insurance joke? What’s your most hated one?   > An actuary, an underwriter, and a producer are riding in a car. The producer has his foot on the gas, the underwriter has his foot on the brake, and the actuary is looking out the back window telling them where to go.   > What’s the difference between an introverted actuary and an extroverted actuary? > > The introverted actuary looks at his shoes when he talks to you. > > The extroverted actuary looks at your shoes….   ## How would you define your company’s culture in just one sentence? > Stuck in the past. Best described as the business definition of insanity, i.e. “Doing the same things the same way and expecting different results.”   > Our commercial department feels more like a family than a business- in large part because it is me, my sister, and my mom.   > Innovative and powerful if you’re at headquarters, disconnected if you’re in a field office.   > We truly care, but we’re stuck in the past held back by old processes and systems. ## What’s the best day you’ve had during your insurance career and why? > Delivered a check for $1,000,000 to a widow and her children and told them everything will be all right! Insured a home destroyed by fire, let the family know everything will be ok!  Insured a business that had an interruption of income, let the owners know that they would recoup their losses.  Everyday is a good day in insurance!   > The best day of my short insurance career was the day that I closed a municipality account that my agency has been targeting for 25 years. As the new guy on the block, it was a huge confidence booster and validation that I can make it as a producer.   ## What’s the worst day you’ve had during your insurance career and why? > I actually have two. The first is finding out our company was downgraded by AM Best to a B++ with a negative outlook. Going from an A- to a B++ was hard to swallow. > > The second was having a 500 yr hail storm hit.
