2017 Update: A much better version:
I watched too much Glee this week and I was sitting at the office today with Coolio’s masterpiece Gangster’s Paradise stuck in my head and I just couldn’t help myself. Here’s my absolutely awful version of Insurance Paradise! (Listen at your own risk, I have no voice, no rhythm and have no idea what I’m doing. Read the lyrics below for a good laugh without hurting your ears).
Insurance Paradise
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of risk
I take a look at my career and realize there’s tons left
‘Cause I’ve been studying CPCU and underwriting so long,
That even my manager thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain’t never declined an account that didn’t deserve it
Me be treated like a rookie you know that’s unheard of
You better watch how you’re filling and where you’re submitting
Or you and your account rep be getting denial letters
I really hate to trip but I gotta get rate
As they expire, I see myself in the auditor’s sight, fool
I’m the kinda G the little homies wanna be like
On my knees in the office saying prayers to survive Seven One
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Look at the situation they got me facin’
I can’t live a normal life, I was raised by The Institutes!
So I gotta be down with the one more designation
Too much studying CPCU got me chasing dreams
I’m an educated fool with success on my mind
Got the pen in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I’m a loc’d out sales manager set to hit my bonus
And my underwriter is down so don’t arouse our denial, fool
CATs ain’t nothing but a heartbeat away,
I’m living life, bound it or not, what can I say
I’m 23 now, but will I live to see 24
The way things are going I have good life insurance
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That insurance is one awesome career.
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
New business and renewals, renewals and new business
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody’s running, because Geico’s ad budget is a billion
What’s going on with the actuaries, but I don’t know what’s cookin’
They say I gotta learn, but nobody’s here to teach me
If they can’t understand it, how can they reach me
I guess they can’t, I guess they won’t
I guess they front, that’s why I know this account is out of luck, fool
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Been spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Keep spending most their careers, living in the insurance paradise
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That insurance is one awesome career.
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That insurance is one awesome career.
