[Margo Giles](https://www.linkedin.com/in/margogiles/) has been involved in unique entrepreneurial ventures such as [Zingo](https://roughdraftatlanta.com/2009/08/07/zingo-drinkers-home-safely-morningafter-car-worries/), where they provided (potentially) inebriated drinkers at bars a ride home…in their own vehicles (with the clever use of folding Italian scooters for the drivers, so they could get back) These ventures required innovative solutions and the development of specialized software to support their operations. She was “rope-a-doped” into insurance and as a commercial agent/broker, she was already used to dealing with trying to place P&C exposures for her Florida insurance buyers through the perpetually hard Florida insurance capacity markets. But one thing was broken above all else…agency technology. Enter [Irys](https://www.linkedin.com/company/go-irys/) (the Goddess of Rainbows and Liaison of Information). In this episode, we go into a lot of what is not working in agency, brokerage and MGA technology and get Margo’s point of view on what it needs to be doing. From data collection (what should agents and brokers be capturing that they are NOT), to the CRM, to the ability of systems to engage with the marketplace, to the ownership and reporting capabilities of the system. She aims to achieve goals like improving appointment management (dealings with actual appointments, to E&S, to real-time appointments), providing real-time insights to users, and enhancing productivity through AI and microservice-based technology. There is a lot there that Irys is trying to solve, which will not only benefit agents and brokers, but the Florida marketplace which desperately needs technology to streamline insurance buying.
